Out of the rest, I think it is important to mention the basic books, like Thousand Sons - this book has made me buy a TS kill team, with Ahriman not being just a completely blank character of hate, but a desperate son of a demigod who has failed his children. My boy has become a grey knight and a damn great one at that. Garro is my overall favourite character, going from Flight of the Eisenstein to the stories. Scars and Path of Heaven take a wildly unknown legion and turns Jagathai and the gang into great characters who drip cool. While 40k writing is commonly subpar, the stories it tells are just great). The whole betrayal is portraied very well and is to this day one of my favourite books (mind you, I am a literature nerd. Know No Fear, just the change of pacing and the Mark of Calth sequence are crazy good. The characters are great, their morul conundrums tough and the Pilgrimage into the Eye is just great. Very cool, great to see the Luna Wolves in their original state and yes, while Horus' fall is a bit too fast for my liking, they are great.įirst Heretic is the first ADB book that I read and the quality of the writing is crazy good, especially when compared to things like Battle in the Abyss, Nemesis and such. Yes, they are rushed and I can pinpoint a few irksome moments here and there, but I read them over a weekend on a fishing trip. Horus Rising and False Gods are an entry point to the whole Horus Heresy.
