You are most certainly right in saying that there must be something on my machine that really does not like RealFlight 8. I have been trying for weeks to get this thing to work with no luck. Steam Support asked for the mini dumps files, not sure if that would show why an app would crash. Also tried windows safemode, the splash screen appeared briefly, then disappeared but no error message. I did try turning off my AV, windows firewall and defender, but no luck with starting the simulator (not game). Given the vague nature of the issue I was (more on that later) experiencing I can see the difficulty in pinning down the issue. I have read about Hobbico taking over the reigns of Horizon Hobby and I can appreciate all of the problems that comes with that.

It may be worth a close look around your system in case more than one piece of protection software is running and intervening. That's especially true when the protection options built into Windows are running as well. Also, sometimes people have more AV applications on their computer than they even realize. Note that AV software often does not make this easy. It may be possible that some part of it is still interfering with RealFlight's execution.
Rather than merely creating an exception, I'd try completely disabling it, including all the different types of protection it offers. So G5.5 and RF8 both exhibit the same problem on this computer, is that right? Have you tried either of them on a different PC? If so, what were your results?Ībove you made mention of antivirus software.

(Because you have the Steam version, they shouldn't need the serial anyway.) I suggest you point out to them that you can't do that because it's the Steam version and maybe mention my developer email in case they haven't seen it yet. I fired off an email to them to explain a bit about this particular difference. Their support team is very much still in the process of getting up to speed on all the intricacies of the various RealFlight products.
